Map 1. River Ray Parkway

River Ray Parkway

The River Ray Parkway is an off-road ‘greenway’ between Mouldon Hill and Coate Water Country Park following the line of a dismantled railway line. The River Ray rises to the south of Swindon and discharges into the Thames north of the town and is a key habitat and linking feature within the network and supports protected species including otters. The River Ray represents a valuable priority habitat within the Network which, as well as providing a vital habitat for riverine species of plant and animals, is also crucial in creating the conditions for associated priority habitats and species along its course.

Projects and initiatives which contribute to the landscape-scale conservation of priority habitats and species within the Swindon urban area can be found on the Delivery Projects in the Swindon Urban Area page of this website.
